Abstract
In this paper, a study on the calibration of the shear stop criteria based on the crack kinematics from DIC measurements is presented. The crack kinematics were derived from four experiments on RC beams without shear reinforcement including two flexural failure tests and two flexural shear failure tests. The presented study is an addition to a previous work focusing on developing stop criteria based on the same set of beam tests. The current study demonstrated that the increase of the shear displacement Δ of the major flexural cracks is critical to the flexural shear failure. Besides, it evaluates a practical shear indicator Is as a stop criterion for flexural shear failure, which is shown to be effective.
