Cascade PID - FOPID Control with Single Sensor: Application to the EPC Educational Plant

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

This paper presents a modified cascade control structure using a single sensor applied to the EPC Educational Plant. It maintains the hierarchical design of cascade control, with an outer-loop controller overseeing the main process variable and an inner-loop control action derived rather than directly measured. The method simplifies setup and reduces instrumentation costs, making it ideal for educational environments and cost-sensitive industrial applications where frequent disturbances reduce the performance of basic feedback controllers.
