Abstract
Hitherto, musicological works in Ecuador’s religious institutions have been focused mostly on cathedrals, approaching convents and monasteries to a lesser extent. In this regard, the musical life of the Convent of San Francisco in Quito and other areas attached to it still remain undocumented. Thus, this article aims to provide unpublished data concerning the survival of some liturgical-musical practices celebrated in the Franciscan School of San Buenaventura in Quito from 1813 to 1839, and individuals active there, in order to mitigate such deficiency and enrich the current historiography of the institution.
