Abstract

In the buff: The reaction of [Pt(GaCp*)4] with the Ga + source [Ga2Cp*][BArF] (Cp* = C5Me5; BArF = B{C6H 3(3,5-CF3)2}4) leads to the title complex, which exhibits a naked gallium atom coordinated to a platinum center. DFT calculations reveal that the Ga+ ligand serves as a σ acceptor, and the Pt-Ga bond is additionally supported by strong π interactions. (Figure Presented).
