Abstract
This paper explores the feasibility of using controlled electro stimulation in order to avoid muscular atrophy in an immobile limb during the treatment of a fractured or dislocated bone. The electro controlled stimulation is based on the use of electrodes within the splint which emit two waves that collide between them producing a stimulation to the muscle while the limb is totally immobilized by the use of a splint printed in 3D. As a result of the electro stimulation during the use of the splint, the loss of muscle mass in the limb is avoided.
