Resumen

This research presents a method for generating random fields and applies it to simulate the spatial variability of a soil deposit. The soil deposit is then subjected to one-dimensional consolidation, and the void ratio distribution across the entire deposit is computed. The methodology includes an algorithm to generate random fields that incorporates the spatial correlation structure observed in natural soils. The case study focuses on clay deposits from a previous investigation by Pua et al. [1]. The results demonstrate how spatial variability influences soil behavior during consolidation, and generate a random field of void ratio distribution. The findings highlight the potential of the methodology to compute responses in geotechnical applications considering spatial variability.
