Resumen
Efforts toward gene therapy of lung diseases have primarily focused on genetic lung diseases, such as cystic fibrosis (CF) and α1-antitrypsin deficiency. For these diseases, the therapeutic goal is amelioration of A genetic defect and its physiological consequences by addition of the normal gene to affected cells. However, using gene transfer both to study and treat acute and acquired lung diseases and acute lung injury remains A potentially powerful and less well-explored approach.
