Resumen
My chapter examines ancient Greek representations of the god Hephaestus. Because of his injured leg, Hephaestus has been understood as an anomaly among the gods, the ugly, disabled one. My study recovers an alternative perspective on Hephaestus, which characterizes him as the god of mêtis, the archetype of heightened intelligence.
