title = "Integral automation of industrial complexes based on hybrid systems",
abstract = "The aim of this work is to present a modeling scheme for the control of industrial complexes of continuous plants. Processes have interactions among them. For this purpose the paper presents a theoretical support of a generalized three level Hybrid Control model and the way to achieve its implementation. The superior level is a supervisor for a Discrete Event Dynamic System while the lower level performs the control for the process units in a Continuous/Discrete Event Dynamic System. The paper shows the interface between the continuous and discrete systems and the supervision via optimization of the whole plant in a multi-level, multi-modeled complex of process units.",

note = "Funding Information: An industrial complex of continuous processes, such as there found in chemical factories or petrochemical processes, is composed by several semiautonomous Process Units (PUs) producing certain goods which can be inputs for other PUs or final products of the industrial complex. The production can be made in batch form or in a continuous way with multiple operational points and some inputs can be discontinuous. The PUs are controlled both lo- * Corresponding author. i This work is partially sponsored by CONICIT: Program of New Technologies - project 1-22 and CDCHT-ULA project number 1-406-94.",
