Resumen
In the light of legal argumentation, the main problems posed by evidential reasoning can be clarified. These problems have to do with discovering the truth of the relevant facts of the case in a judicial process; the application of the relevant evidence exclusion rules; the proof inference and its assessment criteria; and, the function of the standard of proof. What is crucial in evidential reasoning is the type of statements that make up the premises and the criteria that can be used for the evaluation of the inference. This accounts for the special relevance of the material dimension in this type of argumentation.
