Resumen

Plant colonization in areas recently exposed by retreating glaciers in Tropical Andean volcanoes seems to be facilitated by moraines or lava flows. As a consequence, upward rearrangement of plant communities under climate change scenarios could be strongly influenced by the availability of protected substrates for plant colonization in these mountains.
