Resumen

In this paper, a Sliding Mode Control based on a First-Order-Plus-Dead-Time model of the process is developed and a set of tuning equations, using the Nelder-Mead searching algorithm, as a function of the characteristic parameters of the First-Order-Plus-Dead-Time model. Using a PID algorithm the sliding mode control is implemented. A non-linear chemical process is simulated and the proposed controller's performance is judged and compared with a PID controller.
