Tuning PSO-Based Dynamic Sliding Mode Control for Thermal Process with Long-time Delay

Resumen

This paper presents a Dynamic Sliding Mode Control (DSMC) approach designed to reduce the chattering effect commonly observed in conventional Sliding Mode Control (SMC). The controller parameters are optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization. Performance is evaluated using the Integral Squared Error (ISE) and Total Variation of Control Action (TVu) metrics. Results indicate that the SMC controller exhibits substantial chattering, while the DSMC approach significantly mitigates this effect and successfully achieves the desired temperature response in the TCLab long-time delay system during reference tracking, model uncertainty, and disturbance tests.
